The entrepreneurship support ecosystem in Uganda is not short of hubs that support start-ups. But where do business ideas come from? Who inspires these youth to dream and conjure up these ideas? The reality is that a lot of work happens upstream before these start-ups even pitch their ideas to the various hubs’ programs. We stand with startups at their earliest and perhaps most risky stages. At a critical point when they need the most support, yet, none is often available, especially on the African Continent. It is a thankless task that NASE has been proudly doing since our Inception. Our work involves inspiring young people to even dream of ever starting their own business. It involves structural early-stage support that is crucial in building the confidence of budding entrepreneurs, such as ideating, prototyping, pitching skills, etc. The best participants in our programs always go on to benefit from our various curated incubation programs.
THE 8M Skilling Centre
We have attempted to create a favourable environment that enables start-up ventures, and young people in particular, to enliven their ideas. This is located at our office on Plot 8, Wamala Avenue, Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto, Kampala. The Skilling Centre is available to use by participants in all our programs. Non-members can book to use the space at a fee of $5 per day, although in the future, we would wish for it to be free for anyone that wants to use it.
