Student Launchpad: From Theory to Practice
Designed to be covered in one semester, The Student Launchpad is an 8-12-week long idea-stage acceleration program, designed to inspire students to come up with innovative solutions to local challenges. Using entrepreneurship techniques such as design thinking, students are guided through multiple stages of the start-up journey – from idea generation (finding problem-solution fit), to prototype design, business models, market validation, etc. Students are taken on an exciting journey that culminates in them showcasing real products and services to the public – and getting a certificate too. Some of the best students also get micro grants, and incubation support to help them progress their ideas.
Using a co-curricular approach, The Launchpad is usually delivered in partnership with faculties, colleges, and schools at various Higher Education Institutions in Uganda, and has transformed entrepreneurship education across some of Uganda’s too universities. We believe this practical and hands-on approach to be the most effective way of imparting entrepreneurship skills amongst students, and crucially before they leave school.
